Disabled Access Guide

Many of the buildings at Redcar Racecouse date back to the 1960s and some areas of which were designed and built without considering the needs of disabled visitors.

Disabled access is generally good with access to facilities, good views of the racing from both enclosures, and the parade ring from the Grandstand Enclosure.

In the Grandstand Enclosure there is a great deal of tarmac aiding movement around the racecourse.  There is more grass in the Course Enclosure, however the key areas are accesible to wheelchair users.  There is a forward blue badge parking area for both enclosures where a limited number of spaces are reserved on a first come first served basis.

Free Carer's Admission

Whilst the normal admission price applies to disabled racegoers, those require assistance from a qualified carer (not immediate family) are able to request a FREE admission pass.  Official identification must be shown at the entrance.

It is not possible to pre-book your free carerer's place we do offer a familiarisation visit on a non-racing day to careres organising a day racing at Redcar for the first time.

 Mobility Service

If you would like to hire a mobility scooter for the day we suggest that you contact ROC who have a fleet of mobility scooters available to hire on an hourly basis:   http://www.redcarroc.org.uk/shopmob.htm

 What our visitors say

Our aim is to make Redcar Racecourse accessible to all but don't take our word for it:

Just a quick note to say on behalf of the group that came to the race meeting on Monday a big thankyou. The people with disabilities really enjoyed the experience, and the staff said how helpful the racecourse staff were in welcoming them, pointing them in the right direction and assisting  etc.  Many thanks also for your help in arranging the visit.
