Friday 5 July 2013

As part of the Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival, Wetherby Racecourse are throwing open the doors on Tuesday 23rd July and allowing the general public to access all areas.

Gates open from 11am.  Open until 3pm.  Drop in when you like.
Admission is FREE* but you do need to register to attend - CLICK HERE TO DO THIS NOW

Take a tour of the weighing room, stewards room, commentary box and stables, or take a walk down to the last fence.

Our Groundstaff will be showing you how they make and repair Hurdles, and you can chat to them about how they go about preparing the fences and track for the forthcoming season.

Visit the Bramham 'Syndicate' Hall where you will find several racing syndicates, trainers and partnerships, who will be happy to chat about their horses and share their anecdotes with regard to Racehorse ownership.  Some of the syndicates will also be bringing horses along for you to see on the day.

Also here on the day are racing's administrator's 'Weatherby's', ex-jockey Jimmy Bleasdale, Go Racing in Yorkshire Press Officer Graham Orange and ATR presenter Simon Mapletoft.  You can chat to them all about their experiences and roles within the racing industry.

For those of you feeling energetic, the Northern Racing College, will also be here with their mechanical horse 'equisicer' .  Have a go to feel what it is like to ride a Winner!

Or if you fancy a visit to either the great Yorkshire training centres of Middleham or Malton, then the people who can organise that for you will be happy to help.

Yorkshire ex-racehorse re-training and re-homing charity, New Beginnings, will also be here with ex-Wetherby course specialist and Cheltenham Festival winner, Mister McGoldrick.

After all of that, you can also sit and relax with a cuppa in the Bramham Hall Café.

*There is no admission fee however we do ask that you kindly donate a minimum of £5 per person on the day to New Beginnings Horses, who are a community interest company, doing great work in the re-training and re-homing of Yorkshire's ex-Racehorses.
