FASHION STAKES SET FOR FLYING FINISH

Tuesday 15 October 2013

The race to find who is the best dressed lady racegoer in Yorkshire for 2013 is now well inside the final furlong.

Throughout the summer huge numbers of beautifully dressed ladies have been parading in front of the judges at the county’s nine racecourses, who each stage their own highly popular ‘Best Dressed Lady’ competition.

The nine winners will now meet in the Grand Final at Doncaster on Saturday, October 26th, all hoping to land the prestigious title of this year’s ‘Go Racing in Yorkshire Best Dressed Lady Racegoer.’

For one family, the final is set to be an extra special occasion, with mother and daughter going head to head.

Hollie Dixon, representing Beverley, will be joined in the final line up by her mother Liz Akroyd, who won at Doncaster during the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival.

Who will win is anyone’s guess, although students of form should take note that Liz is a previous course and distance winner, having won the competition back in 2010.

Mrs Akroyd said: ‘It promises to be a great occasion, with plenty of friendly rivalry between myself and Hollie. Our family will be torn between who to cheer for.

‘However the other seven ladies will be equally keen to win and I am sure the standard will be extremely high. Regardless of who wins it will be great fun, as a day at the races always is.’

The overall winner will receive a luxury two night break in a Spa Suite with treatments included at the Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel in Doncaster, a £500 fashion voucher for Yasmine of Bawtry and Epworth and a diamond pendant to the value of £2500, courtesy of lovevintagediamonds.com.

The winning lady will also become the face of Go Racing in Yorkshire for 2014, which promotes racing at the county’s nine racecourses.

The final takes place in the parade ring at Doncaster racecourse on Saturday, October 26th.
