Redcar stages another feast for punters on Sunday (July 23) as the seaside course pays tribute to the country’s military heroes.

The meeting will feature a parade of military personnel and an exit collection for the Help For Heroes charity.

On the track, there is a bumper eight-race card as part of the Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, which starts at Ripon on Saturday and concludes at Pontefract on July 30.
Redcar’s feature race of the day is the Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap at 4.30pm and Paul Midgley’s recent Doncaster winner Art Obsession will be fancied to go in again under Paul Mulrennan.

The meeting gets underway at 2pm with a competitive two-year-old race, featuring a couple of southern raiders in Hugo Palmer’s recent Yarmouth runner-up Arbalet and Brian Meehan’s Barbarianatthegate. Mark Johnston’s Falmouth Light won first time up at Sandown before finishing last of four at Leicester when a hot favourite but is worth another chance.

Sir Michael Stoute always needs to be watched when he sends a runner to Redcar and his Flourishing was an impressive winner at Chester last time, beating Richard Fahey’s Greenview Paradise easily. Fahey provides the main opposition again, this time with Beverley winner Vaulted, so the Malton trainer should have a good handle on his chances of beating the Stoute hotpot.

Michael Dods’ grand old veteran Kiwi Bay is a quirky sort but he likes Redcar and, despite being 12, showed he still retains ability when winning at Ayr under apprentice Callum Rodriguez in May. The same five pound claimer is back in the saddle for the 4pm race tomorrow.
Tim Easterby’s Clear As A Bell was a cosy winner at Beverley last time from David Barron’s Pantera Negra and will be a warm order to double up in the 3.30pm under stable jockey David Allan.

For those who just like to go for the name, two topical tips stand out on Help For Heroes Day – Green Howard in the 3pm and Warfare in the 4pm.

Gates open at 12 noon.
