Helping hand to take that big step

PEOPLE thinking that a move into self-employment could be just the job are being offered expert advice at an event taking place at Redcar Racecourse this month.

Redcar and Cleveland Council’s Enterprise Team has arranged a series of sessions designed to raise awareness of the opportunities available to people hoping to start their own ventures.

The first takes place at Redcar Racecourse on Thursday, September 30, from 1-3pm and 6-8pm.

It will give those attending the chance to meet experienced enterprise coaches who can help them develop their ideas into viable business propositions.

The Enterprise Team has already supported 450 people in starting their own businesses - in turn boosting the economic prosperity of the borough.

More than 5,000 enterprise development sessions have also been delivered to local schoolchildren, equipping them with relevant skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability and decision-making.

Councillor Mark Hannon, cabinet member for economic development, said: “These sessions will offer people who have maybe reached a crossroad in their lives the chance to learn about the opportunities that are out there.

“I hope we see as many people as possible at Redcar Racecourse for the inaugural session, taking the first steps on the path to launching their own business.”
