IT’S BACK TO THE 80s AT REDCAR RACES

REDCAR Racecourse will be rocking people back to the days of leg warmers and the Rubik's Cube, with its 80s Party Night on Saturday night (28 AUGUST).

As well as the excitement of horse racing, the evening will feature performances from 80s tribute bands Dionne Andre’s Absolute 80s and The Wild Boys.

The bars will be staying open later than usual and the concert will be shown on the big screen. There will also be an 80s theme fancy dress competition.

Many families will be making their way to the track because, as always, youngsters aged under 16 are being given free admission when accompanied by an adult.

Amy Fair, General Manager of Redcar Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to put on our Party Night with the sensational sounds of the 80s. We’re sure our visitors will get into the spirit of the occasion – it’s time to don those flouncy cuffed shirts and flourescent socks and join in the fun.”

Racing gets under way at 5.20pm, with the closing race at 7.50pm. The feature horse race is the John Smith’s Redcar Straight-Mile Championship Handicap – the fourth of six races.

The 80s Party Night is one of the highlights of 2010 at Redcar Racecourse which also include, on Saturday 2 October, the seasonal climax with the £150,000 Tote Two Year Old Trophy, £35,000 Listed Guisborough Stakes and the final of the £100,000 John Smith’s Straight Mile Championship Series.

General admission

Grandstand £15; Course Enclosure £5. Accompanied children under 16 always admitted free of charge. Seniors - £12 Grandstand and £4 Course Enclosure.

Special packages

Punter’s package - £13/23 in Course Enclosure and Grandstand: admission ticket; raceday programme; pint of beer, glass of wine, or soft drink; dish of the day or hot baguette; and £2 off a £5 betting voucher.

Curry & a pint package - £25 in the Grandstand: admission ticket; raceday programme; pint of beer or lager; curry & rice; and £2 off a £5 betting voucher.

Garden party package - £27.50 in Grandstand Enclosure: admission ticket; raceday programme; glass of Champagne or Pimm’s; luxury seafood sandwich; bowl of strawberries & cream; and £2 off a £5 betting voucher.

BBQ package - £37.50 in Grandstand (£25.50 children under 16): admission ticket; raceday programme; pint of beer, glass of wine, or soft drink; meal from the barbecue selection; and £2 off a £5 betting voucher.

Every special package bought for the Grandstand gets a £5 voucher redeemable against future bookings.
