LADY LUCK STRIKES AT REDCAR RACES

BEST dressed Gayle Tighe knew exactly what to do with one of her Ladies’ Day prizes at Redcar Races. She put some of her Tote betting vouchers on a 100-1 shot – and the horse won.

Gayle, from nearby Ingleby Barwick, left the Tees Valley racecourse a lot richer than when she came in, courtesy of four-year-old mare Crianza in the Follow Redcar Racing On Facebook Maiden Stakes.

According to the Tote, she helped herself to a £1,200 payout.

Redcar Racecourse’s general manager Amy Fair said: “This is fantastic news, and lovely that our ‘best dressed lady’ was lucky with some of her Tote betting vouchers.”

Gayle also won an 18 carat gold 0.5ct sapphire and diamond pendant worth £1,150 from Market Cross Jewellers, a private shopping experience in the Kate Fearnley Boutique, including Champagne on arrival, a dress from Kate Fearnley’s Spring/ Summer collection, as well as £100 in Tote bets.

The Tote also provided the betting prizes at the racecourse’s Lads’ Night, but it’s not yet clear if the best dressed lad did as well as his opposite number on Ladies’ Day.

The next big racing at Redcar Racecourse is the family fun day on Sunday 18 July.
