Racing UK pays tribute to Tom O'Ryan

Friday 26 August 2016

R.I.P TOM O'RYAN
1955 - 2016
NEVER FORGOTTEN

This week the racing world was hit by the tragic news that Tom O'Ryan had sadly lost his life at the age of 61.

A former well-regarded jockey on the Flat, O'Ryan was deeply respected within the sport and held long-term reporting roles with the Racing Post - he was named Racing Journalist of the Year in 2002 - and the Press newspaper, in York. O'Ryan was also an anchor and analyst for Racing UK, a columnist for Sporting Life, a qualified jockeys' coach and a work-rider for Malton-based Fahey.

Nick Luck paid tribute to O'Ryan: "The profound sense of shock and sadness at the death of Tom O’Ryan at the age of 61 is indication not just of how many lives he touched, but also the extent to which Tom was one of racing’s most reassuring constants."
