RAIN FAILS TO DAMPEN LADIES' DAY SPIRIT

Thursday 23 June 2011

Janette Boult from Ingleby Barwick was judged the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ at Redcar’s rain soaked Ladies' Day fixture.

Janette who works in community cardiac rehabilitation at Thornaby Medical Centre attended the event with a group of friends, as part of her birthday celebrations.

She said: ‘June is a popular month for birthdays among our group of friends and a trip to the races is the perfect way to celebrate.’

Heavy rain failed to dampen the spirit of female racegoers who turned out in large numbers for the popular event, where high fashion and racing go hand in hand.

For Janette the day was made extra special by winning the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ competition, which she says has left her completely overwhelmed.

‘I am completely overwhelmed and still in a state of shock. This is definitely one birthday I will remember for a very long time.

‘Entering the competition was the furthest thing from my mind, let alone winning.’

Her prize included an 18ct yellow gold oval sapphire and diamond cluster ring and 0.50 carat of diamonds, kindly donated by Market Cross Jewellers.

There was also a Kate Fearnley Boutique dress, a photo shoot and make over courtesy of Capture Le Coeur, a Goodie Bag from Benefit Cosmetics and £100 of betting vouchers, courtesy of totepool.

Capture Le Coeur Photography also presented Janette with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers.

Janette now qualifies for a place in the final to find ‘The Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire’ which takes place at Doncaster racecourse on September 8, during the St Leger Festival.

The star prize for the overall winner is a luxury Pampering Pyjama Party for six at the award-winning Best Western Premier Mount Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster.

The next Ladies’ Day in the county takes place at Pontefract racecourse on Wednesday August 3, where the first race is off at 2.10pm.
