REDCAR RACECOURSE PREPARES DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR THE DIAMOND JUBILEE

TEES Valley’s racecourse is getting ready for a bumper celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Redcar hosts not only one bank holiday fixture but two on the third and fourth days of the festivities to mark Her Majesty’s 60 years on the throne next month.

The Monday bank holiday is traditionally one of the racecourse’s most popular occasions of the calendar – Tyregiant.com Zetland Gold Cup day.  The Queen’s horse My Kingdom Of Fife was victorious in the race three years ago.

 

The £25,000 feature event is a one and a quarter mile Class 2 race, which has been run at Redcar Racecourse since shortly after the end of the Second World War.

 

A special ticket offer for the double helping of horse racing is being made by the racecourse.  Anyone pre-booking admission tickets for Monday 4 June will receive a 50% discount on admission tickets for Tuesday 5 June. The Promo Code for this Tuesday offer is DIAMOND12  Tickets need to be ordered by midnight on Friday 1 June. 

 

Lots of free family entertainments are being laid on too, including bouncy castles, slides and face painters.

 

The racecourse’s general manager Amy Fair said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming big crowds to our two bank holiday racing days to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

 

“As well as our regular visitors, it’s a splendid opportunity for people who maybe haven’t been racing before to try out the sport for the first time.  The entertainment is tremendous value for families seeking an affordable afternoon out when, as always, accompanied under 16s are admitted free of charge.”

 

The racecourse’s website  offers the convenience of online purchasing of tickets for all racing days.  There is also a guide to where to eat and drink at the racecourse – and discount vouchers can be downloaded.

 

Former jockey Jimmy Bleasdale will be conducting behind-the- scenes tours on Monday 4 June.

 

The first races on each day are at 2.15pm and 2.05pm respectively.

 

General admission

 

Grandstand £15 on Monday 4 June (£12 on Tuesday 5 June); Course Enclosure £5 (£4).  Accompanied children under 16 always admitted free of charge.  Seniors and students £12 Grandstand (£9) and £4 Course Enclosure (£3).  Tickets can be purchased in advance at:
