Redcar Racecourse supports Redcar In Bloom

Friday 1 April 2011

This year Redcar & Cleveland has been chosen to host the prestigious Northumbria in Bloom Competition and for the very first time Redcar itself will be submitting an entry in the Coastal Town category. Find out how you can get involved....

Why we believe Northumbria in Bloom is important for our town
We think Redcar is a great town and a lovely place to live, and as such we would like to see our town receive the positive recognition it deserves.

In Redcar we have beautiful beaches and some wonderful parks.  From our colourful High Street floral displays to our renowned Racecourse and our beloved boating lake, we take pride in Redcar and want to see our town recognised with an award from Northumbria in Bloom

What’s what…
The Redcar in Bloom Group is made up of volunteers from the local community and was established in December 2010 to organise the Redcar entry.

Many of the people involved in Redcar in Bloom were already working within individual groups such as Friends of Redcar Cemetery and Flower Power – these groups have all agreed to work together, and co-ordinate their projects, all with the aim of ensuring Redcar has a successful entry in this year’s Northumbria in Bloom.

However, if we are to be successful we can’t do it alone! We need the support and input of as many Redcar residents and businesses as possible.

There are lots of ways in which you can get involved and contribute to achieving great things for Redcar. We welcome all sorts of input, from practical help such as planting and maintaining of flower beds, or simply sharing your ideas and suggestions to providing us with a packet of seeds or even making the tea at meetings.

Everyone has something to offer and everyone is welcome to get involved

We would also welcome sponsorship from businesses and/or individuals alike. Perhaps
you may be willing to help with fundraising on behalf of the group,  Whatever your input - every little helps!

We’ve already started
The judging takes place in July and to support our entry and encourage the involvement of as many of the community as possible, a number of competitions are being held,  the categories are:

·         Best Kept Allotment
·         Best Floral Display – Residential
·         Best Floral Display – Business
·         Best Kept Business Frontage
