REDCAR'S FAMILY FUN DAY THIS SUNDAY IS PART OF THE 'GO RACING IN YORKSHIRE' SUMMER FESTIVAL

There's something for all the family this Sunday at Redcar (July 19) the second leg of the 2009 'Go Racing in Yorkshire' Summer Festival, aimed to showcase racing in the county.

There’s a special racecard competition each day of the Festival up to and including the final day at Pontefract the following Sunday, with the overall winner receiving a Racing Break in Ireland, including an expenses-paid trip for two to Fairyhouse Racecourse and accommodation in a top-class Dublin hotel.

The gates open at noon and there’s a plethora of attractions for children in the Course Enclosure, including fun fair and amusements, bouncy castle, giant slides, a children’s entertainer and face-painting. Admission in to the Course Enclosure is only £5, with accompanied children under 16 years of age admitted free of charge.

Racing begins at 2-20 p.m. with The European Breeders’ Fund Maiden Stakes, a contest for juveniles over seven furlongs, while the highlights of Sunday’s racing programme include The Sky Bet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Festival Handicap Stakes – a contest for three-year-olds sprinters – and The Keepmoat ‘Delivering Community Regeneration’ Handicap Stakes over nine furlongs.

Yorkshire Radio will be broadcasting ‘live’ from the course, as part of their commitment to the Yorkshire Racing Festival. The giant screen will enable racegoers to see even more action on the track.

The ‘Go Racing in Yorkshire’ Summer Festival is supported by Sky Bet, Keepmoat, ‘Welcome To Yorkshire’, Yorkshire Post Newspapers, Yorkshire Radio, Ripon Travel and The British Horseracing Authority.
