SUNDAY’S RACING IN DOUBT AFTER HEAVY RAIN

MANAGERS at Redcar Racecourse are concerned about the chances of holding their Family Fun Day race meeting on Sunday after torrential rain in the Tees Valley area.
A formal inspection of the racetrack has been called for 12 noon on Saturday to determine the chances of racing.
However, after more than three inches of rain fell in a little over 24 hours, the race meeting on Sunday is under consideration.
General Manager Amy Fair said: “There is standing water on some areas of the track, so we have to be concerned about our chances of racing on Sunday. However should weather conditions pick up in the next 24 hours we will have another look on Sunday morning”
