WIN YOUR OWN HORSE RACE AT REDCAR

EVER fancied having a horse race run in your name? That’s the prize on offer for visitors to Redcar Racecourse this summer.

Everyone who spends £20 in the new Bubbles Bar will be entered into a competition to win a race in his or her name at Caribbean Carnival Day on Saturday 7 August.

As well as choosing the name of the race in liaison with the racecourse – for example ‘The Sally Smith Maiden Stakes’ - the prize includes:

Ten admission badges to bring family or friends to the races that day (worth £150 alone);
Links of London Sweetie bracelet from Market Cross Jewellers
Choosing the ‘best-turned-out’ horse and presenting the prize to the winning stable lad or lass;
Making the presentation after the race to the owner or trainer of the winning horse.

The names of horse races are also published in many national and regional newspapers.

Bubbles Bar opened at the Tees Valley racecourse this year and serves a range of premium bottled beers & lagers, wines, Champagne, Pimm’s, spirits, tea and coffee, plus a selection of sandwiches and salads.

Amy Fair, the racecourse’s general manager, said: “We have some wonderful racing days coming up, including Ladies’ Day on Saturday 19 June and Lads’ Night on Thursday 1 July. The prize of a race named after someone is a real incentive for our visitors to try out our new Bubbles Bar.”

Our website offers the convenience of online purchasing of tickets for all racing days. There is also a guide to where to eat and drink at the racecourse – and discount vouchers can be downloaded.

The highlights at Redcar Racecourse this summer and autumn include:

Saturday 19 June – Ladies’ Day;
Thursday 1 July – Lads’ Night;
Sunday 18 July – Family Fun Day;
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August - Summer Weekend – Caribbean Carnival and Marske Hall Family Fun Day respectively;
Saturday 28 August - Party Night;
Saturday 2 October – Seasonal climax with the £150,000 Tote Two Year Old Trophy, £40,000 Listed Guisborough Stakes and the final of the £100,000 John Smith’s Straight Mile Championship Series.
