Yorkshire Ladies Under Starters Orders To Be Crowned Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire 2011

The search is on to find the Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire as once again the county’s nine racecourses - Beverley, Catterick, Doncaster, Pontefract, Redcar, Ripon, Thirsk, Wetherby and York - launch a series of Ladies’ Days running from May to September.

The first Ladies’ Day in the county takes place at Wetherby on Thursday 19 May, sponsored by the Yorkshire Post.

Special events at Redcar include a fashion show from local designers Kate Fearnley Boutique and Chic Hats in the Winners' Enclosure at 1pm.

Each winner will be invited to a Grand Finale which will be held during the St Leger Festival at Doncaster on Ladies’ Day on Thursday, 8 September, to find the Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire.

The star prize for the overall winner is a luxury Pampering Pyjama Party for six at the award-wining Best Western Mount Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster.

The winner and her friends will enjoy music, DVD’s and a Wii console after dinner, which is served in a private apartment, while the next morning experiencing the ‘Ladies Indulgence’ package in the Therapie Health & Wellness Centre.

The owner of the hotel, Richard McIlroy said: ‘We are delighted to support this prestigious event and look forward to welcoming the winner and her guests.’

Last year’s Best Dressed Lady Racegoer was Liz Akroyd from Hull, who claimed a place in the Final after winning at the Ladies Day meeting at Ripon racecourse in June.
