YORKSHIRE RADIO DUO TAKE UP THE RACECOURSE CHALLENGE - STARTING AT REDCAR

Monday 21 June 2010

Yorkshire Radio duo Ben Fry and Richard Stead are set to take the on the gruelling challenge of running around the eight Yorkshire courses which stage next month’s Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival.

The pairing are hoping the challenge will raise money for Yorkshire Radio’s charity partner Yorkshire Cancer Research (www.ycr.org.uk), and promote the station’s coverage of the Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival.

The lads take up the challenge on July 8, starting at 7am at Redcar before heading to Catterick, Ripon, Thirsk, York, Beverley, and Pontefract. The big finale comes at Town Moor ahead of the evening meeting at Doncaster.

Yorkshire Radio Station Director Ben Fry said “It’s going to be a really tough challenge, particularly with the World Cup taking up most of our time at the station, but the thought of running around some of the most picturesque courses in the country and the prospect of raising money for Yorkshire Cancer Research will keep us going.”

Graham Orange from Go Racing In Yorkshire will act as driver and chief masseur on the day and he said: “If enthusiasm is enough I am sure they will get round. If it requires fitness and endurance they might be struggling but the challenge is a great way to warm up for the 2010 Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival which is always one of the highlights of the region’s racing calendar.”
