REDCAR FLASHBACKS: Who could forget James and Veronica on Oktoberfest Day last year?
02/10/20

Under normal circumstances, Two-Year-Old Trophy day would coincide with our fun-packed Oktoberfest fancy-dress competition. Sadly, it will have to wait until next year but here's a Redcar Flashback to the wunderbar sights from last year...

THE bottom line is that Saltburn joiner James McCormick couldn't have won the 2019 Oktoberfest fancy-dress competition at Redcar without the help of his "close friend" Veronica.

James caught the judges' eye by not only wearing traditional lederhosen but for “riding” a dummy fraulein.

Asked what had inspired him to enter the competition, James declared: “It was Veronica's idea to enter – she talked me into it. She’s very persuasive.”

James (and Veronica) were celebrating his friend Kris Dixon's 33rd birthday. Kris and his wife Emma, from Redcar, came second in the fancy-dress competition.

Third place went to Steve and Kerri Hornby, also of Redcar.

James won four VIP tickets to a future Redcar meeting, complete with a three-course meal, as well as a Theakston Brewery tour.

The Yorkshire Oompah Band provided suitable entertainment throughout the day, and race-goers had steins on tap and sizzling bratwurst.

Here are a few memories of 2019 and we can't wait to see sights like this again in 2021.
