Racegoers with accessibility needs
+

At Redcar Racecourse, we are committed to providing all customers with the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful experience with each visit. Our access officer is Amy Fair (General Manager) who can be reached on 01642 484 068 / info@redcarracing.co.uk and is available to answer any questions you may have in advance about your raceday.

As such, should you require a personal assistant in order to visit the racecourse, you are entitled to apply for one complimentary admission ticket for a nominated individual. This needs to be for the same event as you have purchased and is only valid once you have purchased a valid admission ticket for yourself.

Personal Assistant Ticket Terms & Conditions

The personal assistant must be able to provide you with appropriate assistance which might include:

  • assisting you in moving around the racecourse;
  • helping you evacuate the racecourse in the event of an emergency;
  • accompanying and/or assist you in using the racecourse’s toilets;
  • assisting you in purchasing refreshments and food or using other services.

Please note that the personal assistant admission policy does not apply to disabled persons 17 and under as it is racecourse policy that all persons under the age of 17 must be accompanied at all times in any event by a responsible adult who must purchase their own ticket.

The complimentary admission ticket provided to your personal assistant will carry the same conditions as the admission ticket that you hold.

We are supporters of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme  - find out more here.

How to apply

Complimentary personal assistant tickets must be booked in advance by contacting the Racecourse Office on 01642 484 068 or by emailing info@redcarracing.co.uk

Our staff are aware that not all accessibility needs are visible - to avoid embarassment, if you are a personal assistant and have identification or if you require a personal assistant please bring your supporting documentation to validate the complimentary personal assistant ticket - please see T&Cs beneath.

Redcar Racecourse participate in the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme, a nationwide initiative for those with accessibility needs that may not be visible. A sunflower lanyard discretely signals to staff that the person wearing the lanyard may need additional support or a little more time when attending racedays.

We do offer a familiarisation visit on a non-racing day to personal assistant / companions organising a day racing at Redcar for the first time.  Please contact us in advance if you would like to organise a visit - 01642 484 068.
