Roll up! Roll up! All the fun of the circus comes to Redcar
12/07/22

ALL the excitement of the Big Top is coming to Redcar Races this weekend as the course stages its Circus Family Fun Day.

Redcar has recruited the madcap services of ‘Circus Sensible’ to provide free family entertainment at its only Sunday meeting of the year.

The Big Top will be erected in the popular Course Enclosure, with youngsters having the chance to learn a range of circus skills, including juggling, plate-spinning, and stilt-walking for beginners.

There will even be the chance to enjoy singing lessons with The Greatest Showman!

Redcar’s general manager Amy Fair said: “The forecast is for lovely warm weather at the weekend, so we’re looking forward to a fun-packed day out for all the family, with lots of clowning around as well as plenty of competitive racing.”

The fixture is the second day of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Festival, which gets underway at Ripon on Saturday. The festival continues with an evening meeting at Doncaster on Saturday, with music legend Nile Rogers and Chic performing after racing.

Then it’s Redcar’s turn on Sunday, with gates opening at 12 noon and the first race due to take place at 2.05pm, with the last race at 4.55pm. However, the race times are provisional and are subject to change up to 48 hours before the meeting.

Admission to the Grandstand Enclosure is £18 on the day and £15 if you book in advance. Course Enclosure admission is £7 on the day and £6 in advance. Under-18s are free into both enclosures when accompanied by an adult.

Concessions are available on the day for those aged 65-plus and students with a valid student card.
