Who'll be Redcar’s best-dressed gent and most stylish couple for 2023?
24/08/23

IT’s the turn of the men to ‘dress to impress’ at Redcar Races this weekend.

Redcar stages its popular Gin and Gents evening meeting on Saturday, with a glamorous mix of great racing, fashion and live music. And this time round, it's 'racing men - hallelujah!'

Ladies’ Day in June was a huge success and now the focus is on the fellas, with competitions to find the Best-Dressed Man and Best-Dressed Couple. Television personality Pam Royle will be among the judges.

The Best-Dressed Man will be judged after the fifth race, with the winner receiving a shopping experience at Bakers Tailoring and a watch from Market Cross Jewellers. The Best-Dressed Couple, judged after the sixth race, will win a pair of watches from Market Cross Jewellers.

Redcar’s general manager, Amy Fair, said: “The ladies did us proud in June and now the spotlight shifts to the men, so come on fellas – it’s time to dress to impress!”

Last year’s Best-Dressed Gent was soldier Craig Hudson, while the Best-Dressed Couple title went to nurse Angela Champion and steelworker Les Shepherd (pictured below with Pam Royle).

Gates open at 2.30pm, with eight races starting at 4.28pm and ending at 8pm.

There was also be live music from The Lover Boys (pictured below) from an hour before racing.

Money can be saved by booking admission tickets in advance. Grandstand Enclosure Admission is £16 in advance and £18 cash or card on the day. Course Enclosure Admission is £6 in advance and £7 cash on the day.

Under-18s, who are accompanied by an adult, come racing for free into both enclosures. There’s no need to book a ticket for children under 18.
