Redcar racegoers have praised the "wonderful sense of fun" they again brought to this year's Caribbean Carnival Family Fun Day.
Visitors to the track entered into the spirt of the annual celebration of Redcar's seafaring heritage, with adult and junior fancy dress competitions taking place in the sunshine.
Redcar was a sea of swashbuckling pirates and Hawaiian shirts, with Redcar's general manager, Amy Fair, saying: "Caribbean Carnival Family Day is one of our favourite days of the year because it unleashes a wonderful sense of fun in our visitors.
"It's such a colourful occasion and this year was no exception, so well done to everyone who took part. It's further confirmation that every pirate's favourite racecourse is Redcaaaaaar!"
With treasure chests of chocolates up for grabs, the winner of the adult competition was Dormanstown cleaner Nadine Nawton, who was resplendent in Caribbean orange. She said: "I can't believe I've won - it's been great fun all day, and this caps it off."
The junior winner was 10-year-old Logan Kermode, from Middlesbrough - although he claimed he lives in the Caribbean. Logan, who came as a pirate on a blow-up horse, said: "I thought I had a chance of winning but I was up against some strong competition, so I'm really pleased."
Caribbean Carnival Day even had a topical winner when Oceanic Wonder won the second race for Tim Easterby.
Redcar's next meeting is another fun occasion - Gin and Gents evening on August 24 - when there will be competitions to find the Best-Dressed Couple and Best-Dressed Man.
