BOLD Territories, owned by a Darlington business famous for its pies, can continue to earn his crust at Redcar on Tuesday.
The four-year-old gelding, who runs in the colours of brothers Paul, Stuart and Nigel Taylor, from Taylor’s Butchers, has come into his own recently, landing his first two victories at Wolverhampton and Newcastle.
The Newcastle race clocked up 1,000 career victories for Denton trainer Michael Dods and, providing Bold Territories can transfer his all-weather form to the Redcar turf, he looks capable of scoring the hat-trick in the opening Racing TV Club Apprentice Handicap, with Mark Winn claiming a handy three pounds.
Dods can swoop again with the well-regarded Prairie Falcon (pictured below) in the Market Cross Jewellers Nursery. The Belardo colt showed a great attitude when winning a seven-furlong nursery under Hollie Doyle at Glorious Goodwood in July.
He was then doing his best work at the finish when third over a furlong less at Newcastle next time out. He now returns to seven furlongs and can get back to winning ways under Tom Eaves.
Malton trainer Nigel Tinkler is another who looks to have a strong hand and will be well fancied to strike in the Redcar Racecourse Celebrates National Racehorse Week Restricted Novice Stakes with Thankuappreciate.
The gelding impressed when travelling strongly and going clear on his fourth outing at Ripon last time out and had enough in hand to suggest he can follow up in the hands of Rowan Scott.
The Tinkler-Scott combination have another sound chance with As If By Chance in the Racing TV Returned To Profits Handicap. The four-year-old looked an unlucky loser at the last Redcar meeting when beaten only a head by Hail Sezer despite being hampered a furlong out.
Jockey Ben Curtis has been in increasing demand this season and he teams up with Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop to ride Western Stars in the Join Racing Today Handicap. The gelding hasn’t been seen since running on well to beat Cosmos Raj by two-and-a-quarter lengths at Pontefract in June.
Although Cosmos Raj is six-pounds better off, the Pontefract race was over a mile and Western Stars won in the style of a horse that will appreciate the step up to a mile-and-a-quarter.
The market is likely to be the best guide to the Every Race Live On Racing TV Novice Stakes. Newmarket trainer William Haggas has an excellent strike-rate at Redcar, and his Fanciful, a daughter of Twilight Son, makes her debut under Steve Donohoe.
Oh So Chic, trained at Middleham by Ed Bethell, finally got her head in front at the 15th time of asking at Carlisle at the end of August and can follow up in the concluding Watch Replays On racingtv.com Handicap to defy Desert Quest a hat-trick.
