Easterby ready to pass the test at Redcar
25/05/25

AFTER an eight-race feast on Zetland Gold Cup Day, Redcar serves up a tasty second course of seven races on Tuesday.

And it won’t be a surprise to see in-form trainer Tim Easterby having a fruitful day, starting with Bleep Test in the opening racingtv.com EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Bleep Test sets the standard, having shown plenty of promise to be a two-length second to Karl Burke’s Ali Shuffle on Redcar’s opening day of the season on April 7.

Jockey Sam James described Ali Shuffle as “a smart filly” that day and she has gone on to be unbeaten in three starts.

Although Ali Shuffle was withdrawn from the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley on Saturday, Easterby won the contest anyway with Argentine Tango, so he should have a good line on the form of his juvenile fillies.

The ever-reliable David Allan rides Bleep Test and they look the combination to beat.

Easterby and Allan will also have high hopes that Perfidia can make it third time lucky in the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap.

The son of Dandy Man has been second on each of his three runs this season – once at Pontefract and twice at Redcar.

Perfidia looked an unlucky loser last time when going down by a neck to Nigel Tinkler’s I Can Boogy despite not having a clear run. The pair are in opposition again and Perfidia is weighted to take revenge.

Veteran trainer Sir Mark Prescott sends Requiem up from Newmarket for the racingtv.com Maiden Handicap, with the much-travelled Luke Morris in the saddle.

The son of Wootton Bassett ran his best race so far to be second at Haydock earlier this month and will be fancied to go one better.

Some nice types line up for the Watch Irish Racing On Racing TV Restricted Maiden Stakes but David O’Meara will be hoping to keep the prize in the north with Mafting, a son of Too Darn Hot, who has shown plenty of promise to be a close second on both starts so far.

PJ McDonald and Andrew Balding teamed up for a nice winner with Old Is Gold at Beverley at the weekend and the combination look set for more success with Jet Black in the Watch Racing TV In Stunning HD Fillies’ Handicap.

The Kodiac filly was staying on well all the way to the line when second at Nottingham last time and she can make the long trip from Hampshire worthwhile.

Cuban Fiesta, trained at Newmarket by Denis Quinn and ridden by Darragh Keenan, is another looking to cover the cost of a long journey when he goes to post for the Join Racing TV Now Handicap.

The Havana Grey gelding held on well to win at Newcastle last time and doesn’t look harshly treated for a follow-up.

The finale is the Watch Race Replays On Racing TV Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap. If Paul Midgley’s Masterclass can back up a last time out victory at Nottingham, it would be a dream first ride for Grace Bell, competing against the likes of the highly experienced Serena Brotherton on So Grateful.
