The search for their successors ends on Saturday with one of Redcar’s most popular fixtures of the year combining great sporting action and fashion.
The fashion stakes get underway with entries taking part in a Parade Ring Catwalk between 11am and 1.30pm, with the finalists announced at 2.30pm.
The finale takes place in the winners’ enclosure after the fourth race, with the Most Glamorous Racegoer winning a lab-grown pear-shaped diamond solitaire 0.50ct ring, courtesy of Market Cross Jewellers.
First prize also includes an overnight stay for two in the luxurious Grouse Moor Suite at Grinkle Park Hotel, near Saltburn, with a three-course dinner and breakfast.
Second prize is a Michael Kors watch and Swarovski pendant necklace set, while third prize is a Swarovski pendant necklace and earring set. The other seven finalists receive a £25 gift voucher, all provided by Market Cross Jewellers.
First prize in the Best Hat competition, after the fifth race, comprises:
- 9ct white gold lab-grown diamond 0.50ct pendant neckless from Market Cross Jewellers
- Bespoke hat from Lynne Young Millinery.
- Champagne afternoon tea for two at Grinkle Park Hotel.
Second prize is an Olivis Burton Watch, and third prize is a Swarovski pendant, both provided by Market Cross Jewellers. The other seven finalists again receive a £25 Market Cross voucher.
Judges will include television presenter Pam Royle and Dawn Welsh, owner of Market Cross Jewellers.
Musical entertainment will be performed by Elena Larkin, in the Grandstand Enclosure, during the day and for an hour after racing.
Redcar’s general manager, Amy Fair, said: “They say there’s no such thing as a racing certainty but there’s no doubt that the winners will go home happy after our fashion competitions on Ladies’ Day.
“It’s always a highlight of our calendar with the ladies of Redcar and the wider region relishing the opportunity to dress up in style. We can’t wait to see those magnificent hats and beautiful outfits coming through the entrances.”
