CONGRATULATIONS to our Best-Dressed Gent of 2026 - potash miner Sam Hoar.

Sam, from Eston, won a Tissot watch from Market Cross Jewellers and a £250 voucher from Bakers Tailoring, of Middlesbrough.

Sam, who was at the races with his fiance Stacey Craddock, was chosen as the winner by Dawn Welsh, of Market Cross Jewellers, Paul Smith, of Bakers Tailoring, and TV presenter Pam Royle.

The competition to find the Best-Dressed Gent was held after the fifth race on Gents' Evening at Redcar on Saturday.

Half an hour later, the judges picked cancer nurse Tracy Beck and Dave Ramsay, of Eston, as the Best-Dressed Couple.

Tracy is an oncology clinical sister at James Cook University Hospital, and Dave is Business Development Manager.

They won a Ladies' Coach Watch and a Gents' Boss Watch, from Market Cross Jewellers.

The runners-up in both competitions won four tickets to return on October 3 for the Two-Year-Old Trophy, Redcar's richest  race. The third place contestants were given two tickets.
