Racing goes ahead at Redcar today
20/10/23

Racing is going ahead at Redcar today after less rain than forecast fell on the Teesside section of the North-East coast.

A preliminary inspection had been scheduled for 8.30am today but that was not deemed necessary, with no concerns about the ground.

However, due to forecast high winds from Storm Babet, it has been decided to keep the Course Enclosure - in the middle of the track - closed for health and safety reasons.

Redcar's general manager Amy Fair said this morning: "We are delighted that we are able to go ahead with racing but disappointed to have to close the Course Enclosure. However, due to the forecast high winds, and the fact that the Course Enclosure is more exposed, we feel it is important to minimise any risks."

The first of eight races is off at 1.35pm.
