Stylish Sophie to represent Redcar in Go Racing in Yorkshire Grand Final
20/06/26

SOPHIE Critchley will represent Redcar in the Grand Final of Go Racing in Yorkshire’s Best Dressed contest.

Sophie, of Guisborough, was runner-up last Saturday’s Most Stylish Racegoer contest on a hugely successful Ladies’ Day at Redcar.

However, she will go into the Grand Final after Saturday’s winner decided to withdraw from the competition for personal reasons.

The glamorous final features the winners of Ladies’ Day contests at the nine Go Racing in Yorkshire courses and will be decided by an online public vote.

The winner gets an unforgettable luxury Yorkshire experience, including:

  • A two-night stay at Country Huts on the Wolds
  • Use of a Land Rover vehicle for two days, courtesy of Lloyd Land Rover, York
  • A pair of his and hers Galway Dubarry boots from Parnaby’s

Ladies’ Days will be held at all nine Yorkshire racecourses, culminating at Doncaster on Thursday September 10.

As Redcar’s runner-up, Sophie has already won a Michael Kors Watch and Swarovski pendant necklace from Market Cross Jewellers, and a £30 voucher from Betty Leigh Boutique.

Third place went to Chrissy Gunn, of Redcar, who won a Swarovski pendant necklace and earrings from Market Cross Jewellers, and a £20 voucher from Betty Leigh Boutique.

Redcar’s general manager, Amy Fair, said: “It is very unfortunate that our original winner has had to withdraw from the Grand Final for personal reasons, but it was obviously important for us to respect her wishes.

“It was a very close contest and Sophie looked wonderful, so we are very happy that she will be our representative.”

And hats off to Emma!

MEANWHILE, the winner of the Best Hat competition was Emma Carter, of Redcar, who won a diamond necklace from Market Cross Jewellers, a bespoke hat from Lynne Young Millinery, and a champagne afternoon tea for two at Grinkle Park Hotel.

The judges’ decision was sealed by the fact that Emma, who works in customer services, made the winning hat herself.

Tracey Winstanley, of Redcar, was runner-up, winning an Olivis Burton watch, and third prize went to Alana McNeil, of Normanby, who won a Swarovski pendant, both from Market Cross Jewellers.

The other seven finalists in both competitions won £25 vouchers from Market Cross Jewellers.

The judges were Dawn Welsh and Nicola Foy, from Market Cross Jewellers, and TV presenter Pam Royle, who said: “The standard in both competitions was amazing, making it harder than ever to pick the ten finalists, never mind the winner.”
