APPRENTICE jockey William Pyle is having a fine season and he can continue the momentum as Redcar kicks off an eight-race card on Wednesday.
The 3lbs claimer, who had a winner on Debora’s Dream at the last Redcar meeting, teams up with Shropshire trainer, David Loughnane, with Rejjien in the opening Celebrating The Pentlands Ruby Wedding Anniversary Nursery.
The grey filly has had a run of three seconds and looks ready to put her head in front under the increasingly popular young rider.
Malton trainer Brian Ellison enjoyed a double at the last Redcar meeting, including landing a seller with Mossvale Diva, who he described as “hard as nails”.
The in-form filly steps back up in class for the Weatherbys Stallion Book Nursery and has Shay Farmer claiming seven pounds as she bids for a hat-trick.
John and Thady Gosden send a promising type up to Redcar in the form of Yazin for the British EBF Supports Racing To School Future Stayers Novice Stakes.
The son of New Bay was third at Kempton on his debut and the winner has won since. He’ll get plenty of assistance from Danny Tudhope in the saddle but it’s worth a market check for signs of confidence in Karl Burke’s newcomer High Storm.
Tudhope also has strong claims on the David O’Meara trained Hostility in the weatherbysshop.co.uk Novice Stakes. The gelding was well backed when third at Redcar last time, on her first run for the O’Meara yard after switching from Joseph O’Brien.
War Supremo, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford at Newmarket, is in a good run of form, having won at Doncaster in July. He was an eye-catching fourth of 14 at Haydock last time after being hampered at the start.
Paul Mulrennan rides the Churchill gelding in the Weatherbys & Birdie Calendars Handicap, and the combination will be a popular choice.
Another Newmarket raider, Money Pockets, trained by Martin Dunne, was an impressive winner at the last Redcar meeting, and returns in a bid to defy a penalty. Oisin Orr retains the ride in the racingtv/freetrial Handicap.
North Yorkshire training partnership Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood had a nice winner in Thunder Roar at the Ayr Gold Cup Festival, and they may have the answer to the Watch Racing TV Free For 31 Days Handicap (Division 1) in the form of Ey Up Its Jazz.
The gelding clearly likes Redcar, having won at the track last November, and been placed twice. A winner at Thirsk last time, he’s aiming to defy top weight under David Nolan.
Division Two could go to the Ivan Furtado-trained Pearly Squirrel, a Doncaster winner in July, and a decent third at Thirsk last time. Stevie Donohoe takes the ride.
